Sevenoaks Town Juniors FC are the 2011 Kent County Charter Standard Community Club of the Year - This award is given to one club in the county to recognise their extraordinary commitment to both their teams and the community.
Sevenoaks Town Juniors Football Club (STJFC) is the largest junior football club in the Sevenoaks district and one of the largest in south east England. STJFC provides football for all regardless of gender, ability, race or religion. The club is a registered charity and therefore by nature is a non-profity organisation.
Our main aim is to provide a fun, healthy and safe environment for all our playing members whereby they are educated in the areas of health, social well-being and fitness alongside the technical side of football. This creates the perfect environment for the development of children not just socially but also in terms of their football. However our underlying commitment is to provide football in a safe and enjoyable environment with a firm emphasis placed upon participation rather than success.
STJFC is the junior section of Sevenoaks FC, which is one of the older clubs in the world having been established in 1883 making it older than the majority of Premier League clubs.
STJFC play around the Sevenoaks district at venues such as Greatness Park, Knole Academy, Otford School, Seal Recreation Ground, Dunton Green and Halstead Recreation Ground. Greatness Park is where our senior section is based.
STJFC is effectively split into two divisions: our 32 teams and our Football in the Community Scheme.
Our 32 teams, ranging from U7's to U18's, compete at a variety of levels including the Kent Youth League - the highest standard in the county. Our teams play matches and train regularly. We are fortunate to have Micky Hazard as our Head of Football Development to oversee the development of everyone at the club. To find out more about our teams click on the links below.
Our Football in the Community Scheme, the other division of the club, focuses primarily on increasing participation in football. This scheme is split into a number of different initiatives. To find out more about our Football in the Community Scheme click on the link below.
We became a Charter Standard Community Club in 2009, which is the highest tier in a three tier system, proving our commitment not only to our 32 teams but the wider community.
The club is very forward thinking and this can only be beneficial. The main project now is to achieve our long-term goal of building a new ground whilst continuing to build on the strong foundations already in place.
The club has a clear and detailed Development Plan to which its management committee always work. This plan is constantly updated to ensure that the club progresses in line with the FA's regulations and also the club's own high expectations.
By 2011 we want to:have over 500 playing members whether that is with a team or involved in one of our Football in the Community Schemes(Achieved)have a dedicated and established girls and disabled section (Achieved)hold Charter Standard Community Status Club (Achieved)have formal links with schools in the local area (Achieved)improve our current facilities (Yet to Be Achieved)
