Since 2009 STJFC has been developing new links and strengthening current links with local schools across the Sevenoaks District through the FA 3 Lions School-Club Link. This initiative is the club's commitment to delivering sport, in this case football, to children whatever their circumstances or abilities during their allocated Physical Education curriculum time.
Through the delivery of The FA National Framework, our project sets out:
to increase the number of young people playing in an FA Charter Standard Clubto develop sustainable relationships between schools and local clubs to provide a clear pathway to enable young people the chance to continue their football participationto give children the chance to enjoy sport in a safe and enjoyable environment
The initiative varies in structure but typically consists of six weeks of coaching during the allocated Physical Education curriculum time and in after-school clubs. This then cuminates in a Football Festival in which all the schools participating compete against each other to add a competitive element to the initiative.
Since running the FA 3 Lions School-Club Link we have worked with the following schools:
Sevenoaks County Primary
Dunton Green
St Thomas'
Seal Primary
Lady Boswells
RLSB Dorton House
Valence School
Typically Consists of...
Six Weeks of Coaching in Local School During the Allocated Physical Education
Curriculum Time
Education on the Benefits of Exercise and a Healthy Diet
A Football Festival Where All the School Participating Compete Against Each Other
Encourage Participants to Continue Their Participation at Skills School
